Wrexham’s Credit Union has moved to a new location on King Street in Wrexham town centre.
With the aid of capital investment from the Welsh Assembly Government, the credit union has been able to buy and refurbish 51 King Street, Wrexham, allowing it to provide a better quality of service to its rapidly growing membership.
As well as affordable loans and savings, Wrexham Credit Union provides a number of services to local communities, including payroll deduction from many local employers, Child Trust fund accounts, free life insurance on savings, Wrexham FC season ticket loans and much more. It has also applied to become a Savings Gateway provider.
Credit unions across North Wales are now discussing how they can work together more closely in the future. As part of a larger organisation, this could mean Wrexham Credit Union will soon be able to offer a basic bank account with a debit card and a better bilingual service for members.
As a financial cooperative, the Credit Union has no external shareholders to satisfy, so the profits can be returned to the members (last year the Board paid a 2.7% dividend)
