Wrexham has a new civic head following a ceremony at the Guildhall. Chirk Councillor Ian Roberts and his wife Hilary have been installed as Mayor and Mayoress for the next year.
Following the Ceremony, Cllr Roberts, said:
“We are both very delighted and honoured to be serving Wrexham as civic leaders and look forward to performing our duties over the coming 12 months. We will particularly look forward to meeting all the many people who volunteer and work on behalf of charities and voluntary groups in the County Borough. We will also be out and about throughout the County Borough and hope to meet as many residents as possible.”
The Mayor has chosen his nominated charities for the year that will benefit from the proceeds of his Mayoralty year as Nightingale House and Chirk Community Hospital Circle of Friends.
Deputy Mayor for the next year will be Grosvenor Councillor, Gwyneth Roberts and her Consort for the year will be her son Haydn Roberts.
