The Diocese of Bangor will shortly be welcoming a new senior staff member, with the arrival of Dr Michelle Freeman as Diocesan Secretary.
Born in Aberdare, Michelle gained a PhD in computational physics from Bangor University in 1992. She came to Coleg Menai in 1993 and has held leadership roles in MIS, exams, Information security, IT support, systems and web development. She is currently the Director of Corporate Services at the college with responsibilities for planning, financial procedures and control, estates strategy, IS Strategy and corporate systems.
Michelle is married to Chris, a Professor of Biogeochemistry at Bangor University and they have two daughters, Alana age 13 and Erin age 7. Michelle will take up her post as Diocesan Secretary on 1st July, and will be based in the Diocesan Centre in Cathedral Close. She said, ‘I am delighted to have been appointed as Diocesan Secretary in Bangor. I am looking forward to joining the Diocesan team in Bangor and supporting the work of the church.’
The Bishop of Bangor, the Right Reverend Andrew John welcomed the appointment and said ‘Michelle brings enormous gifts and abilities which will help us develop our plans for the diocese. We are delighted at her appointment and confident that we can face a challenging future with fresh confidence’
