New Mobile Outreach Service Launched

Plaid Cymru have launched a new and innovative approach to engaging with constituents.  Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Jonathan Edwards MP has launched a specially adapted bus that will be used to travel the constituency holding mobile surgeries.

The service will enable the AM and MP to engage with constituents personally, and through designated constituency staff, on a daily basis in locations throughout the county.  It will be especially targeted at areas where there are poor transport links and for meeting elderly, disabled and vulnerable people who may otherwise find it difficult to visit one of Rhodri and Jonathan’s two full time constituency offices.

Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM said:

“I am really excited about the possibilities this service offers.  I think it will be a really innovative way of bringing politics to the people.  It will allow us to hold surgeries on a daily basis in the heart of the community.

People across the constituency will be seeing the outreach bus making regular stops in different towns and villages as we aim to get direct feedback on the issues that are concerning them.  This is a long term project that I am sure end up becoming a vital service in the county.”

Jonathan Edwards MP said:

“We have always had a commitment to constituency work.  We already operate two full time offices with five full time members of staff on call to work for our constituents every working day.  Our offices and staff are already dealing with people who simply drop in, phone or email, as well as our weekly community street surgeries.

This mobile outreach service is the next step forward in working for the people of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr.  It will enable us to help an even greater number people and allow people who maybe have not had the opportunity to raise their concerns with us to access advice locally.”
