A new Police Community Support Officer has joined the Benllech beat.
After weeks of training at Colwyn Bay and St Asaph, PCSO Arwel Jones has started to patrol the streets of Benllech and the surrounding areas including Moelfre and Pentraeth.
The former driving instructor has been in the area for six weeks and is enjoying his new role. He said: “Since I’ve started no day has been the same and over the last few weeks I’ve been busy getting to know the community.
“I’ve carried out foot patrols which have been great as I’ve had many people approach me on the street. I’ve also attended community meetings, surgeries and visited the local youth clubs.
“It’s a fantastic place to work because of the beautiful scenery and I very much looking forward to establishing excellent links with the community.”
Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Andy McGregor said: “Arwel is a welcome new addition to the team and he will be working closely with PCSO Iona Beckmann covering the Benllech beat.
“PSCO Jones will be supporting the local officers by providing high visibility foot patrols. He will also help support vital community partnerships which will involve him working with the local authority and other partners in schemes to help improve the area and give local people a voice in decisions through regular community surgeries.
“I welcome him to the team and hope the community contact him with any issues or concerns.”
PCSO Jones will also take part in the ‘Keep Safe Be Safe’ forum which is being held at the Ex Servicemen Hall in Benllech on Monday, 29th March.
Arranged by the Community Safety Partnership for the local residents, the forum will host various events and activities with partner agencies such as North Wales Police, the Fire and Rescue Service, Trading Standards and Age Concern Wales.
PCSO Jones added: “I encourage all local residents to attend the day which will be a great opportunity to meet the Neighbourhood Policing Team as well as receive advice from partner agencies.”
