The facility is the result of partnership working between Pembrokeshire County Council’s Regeneration Unit and the Recreation Action Group and the village’s Community Council.
The Action Group raised £21,000 and then accessed £20,000 from the County Council’s Capital Playground Fund. This was match-funded by St Dogmaels Community Council to the tune of £20,000 together with a very generous donation by local resident, Mr Ian Gollop.
The facility has been designed following consultation with the children in the village and includes a 25-metre zip wire, climbing frames and a cantilever swing.
There is also a fenced-off area specifically for toddlers as well as a sheltered area for adults.
The playground was opened on Wednesday (1st December) by local children running through a banner and into the park.
The St Dogmaels representative on the County Council, Councillor Mike James, said it was a red letter day for the village.
“We are really proud of the new playground” he added. “This has been a community effort and has resulted in a marvellous facility for the local youngsters to enjoy for years to come.”
