Roger Couch, New Quay RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, has made a plea to all users of New Quay’s beaches to check on tidal conditions if in doubt about the safety of walking from one beach to the other.
This follows a call out last Friday evening for the inshore lifeboat to rescue three teenage girls stranded on rocks while trying to walk between the main beach and Traethgwyn. 3 weeks previously, eleven people had to be similarly rescued from the rocks and there are several such incidents each year.
Anyone stranded at that point may feel that they have no option other than hope to successfully sit the tide, but the RNLI advice that if you think you are in trouble please call 999 and ask for help.
