New ranger for Flintshire’s Coastal Partnerships

Mandy Cartwright is the latest addition to Flintshire County Council’s Coastal Unit.

Mandy is a local girl from Holywell and has a personal appreciation for the access and site improvements that the coastal team have implemented, and continue to implement in Flintshire.

Presthaven Sands Holiday Park and Flintshire County Council are collaborating to create and enhance sensitive coastal habitats that support priority species such as the natterjack toad. The partnership is also involved in the maintenance and improvement of the Wales Coastal Path for the benefit of thousands of visitors to and residents of Flintshire.

Mandy said:

“I’m really excited about my new job! My career in conservation began three years ago as a volunteer with the Flintshire Coastal Unit. The support and encouragement I received from the Coastal Rangers was fantastic, and something I always endeavour to create for other people who want to get involved.”

Based at the Presthaven Sands Holiday Park, Mandy wants to set up a volunteer base and hopes to involve residents, holiday makers and members of the local community alike.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to get involved in various tasks such as practical site and habitat management, habitat surveys and various other projects, for the enhancement and protection of the Gronant Dunes and Talacre Warren SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).
