The Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt. Revd. Gregory Cameron is pleased to announce that the Reverend Godfrey Chigumira, currently Assistant Curate in the Benefice of Hawarden will be moving to become a Team Vicar in the Rectorial Benefice of Rhos-Cystennin. Rhos-Cystennin Benefice has seven churches and encompasses a large part of the seaside resort of Llandudno and the surrounding communities of Llanrhos, Deganwy, Llandudno Junction, Llangystennin, Mochdre, Bryn Pydew, Glanwydden, Penrhyn Bay and Craig-y-Don.
The Bishop will licence Mr Chigumira at a special service on July 16th at St Michael’s Church, Llandudno Junction at 1900hr.
Reverend Godfrey Chigumira grew up in Zimbabwe where he did most of his ministerial training. He came to the United Kingdom in 2004, and for two years studied at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He did one more year of ministerial training at St Michael’s College in Cardiff between 2007 and 2008, after which he has served as a curate in the Benefice of Hawarden.
Commenting on this appointment Bishop Gregory says,
‘Godfrey’s background in Zimbabwe gives him a distinctive outlook on Christian ministry, and offers a great deal to our understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am very pleased that he is moving from Hawarden to begin this new ministry in Rhos-Cystennin, and am sure that he will quickly win the support and affection of his colleagues and parishioners.’
Godfrey enjoys playing tennis, jogging and watching football. He looks forward to his new assignment in the Benefice of Rhos-Cystennin, and to becoming part of the benefice team, and to working with the people in the benefice.
As the Team Rector of the Rhos-Cystennin Rectorial Benefice, the Prebendary Bob Griffiths says ‘We look forward to welcoming Godfrey to our ministry team here in the Rectorial Benefice of Rhos-Cystennin to which we believe he will add a new and different dimension to our ministry in and to the communities we serve.’
