Exciting times are ahead for Denbighshire County Council Leisure Services Department.
The service is currently working on appointing a development partner for the refurbishment and regeneration of facilities at Ruthin Leisure Centre which is located on the grounds of Ysgol Brynhyfryd.
In addition, the service is planning a large investment in Prestatyn High School and Prestatyn Leisure Centre.
The Ruthin project will include improvements to changing / circulation areas, a new state of the art fitness suite and improvements to outdoor provision.
This is a positive step forward for Leisure Services and emphasises the importance that the department has on developing its facilities and ensuring they are suitable for the 21st century, allowing the service to improve and expand the leisure products and services they offer.
2011 can’t come soon enough in Prestatyn where two major projects are set to improve the standard of sports facilities creating more opportunity for the local community and school pupils to participate in a wide range of activities.
The hard court areas at the rear of the school will be refurbished to include new fencing, an upgrade of lighting and the replacement of the tarmac surface with a new synthetic surface giving better drainage to the area. The second project which will take place later in the year is the refurbishment of the sports hall. The facility will be refurbished to bring it up to 21st century standard with a new sprung floor and associated sports equipment.
Head of Leisure, Libraries and Community Development, Jamie Groves, said, “Our goal is to work with our development partner in order to design, build and fund capital projects in Denbighshire and ensure that we deliver the right project, on time and within budget. Even during these challenging times we are committed to improving the facilities and services that we offer to our pupils and our communities.”
