Newbridge town centre is facing a bright future thanks to major grant funding, some of which has already been used to build the landmark ‘Calzaghe Bridge’, which opened last year.
The next phase of the regeneration programme is to implement an exciting series of town centre enhancements over the next few years, which will include improved public spaces, wider, safer pavements, better road surfaces and new public artwork.
An exhibition of the draft plans for the works will be on display at Newbridge Memorial Hall and Institute between 1st December and 15th December.
Officers from the Council’s Urban Renewal Team will be on hand to answer any questions on:
- Thursday 2nd December – 10am to 2pm / 4pm to 6.30pm
- Friday 3rd December – 10am to 2pm / 2.30 pm to 4.30pm
- Saturday 4th December – 10am to 2pm
- Saturday 11th December – 10am to 2pm
- Monday 13th December – 3pm to 6pm
Cllr Ron Davies, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning said, “I would encourage as many local residents as possible to come along and view the exciting draft enhancement proposals for the regeneration of the town – it is important that the people who live in, work in or visit Newbridge have their say on the future of their town”.
The major grant funding was secured from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Convergence Programme, Welsh Assembly Government, the Arts Council of Wales, together with significant funds from Caerphilly County Borough Council and the Newbridge Community Partnership.
