Four men were yesterday jailed for 48 years for conspiracy to murder two people.
The four, Ryan Battersby, 25, of no fixed abode, Lewis Bridge, 23, of Nash Drive, Newport, Brogan Hooper, 21, of Feering Street, Newport, and Gary Rabjohns, 25, of no fixed address were all jailed for 12 years each.
They were arrested after two men were shot at and rammed by a jeep while travelling on Chepstow Road, Newport on September 3rd 2013.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Jon Evans said:
“Thankfully these types of incidents in Gwent are few and far between, but when they do occur we take immediate and robust action to ensure the safety of local residents and identify those responsible to bring them before the courts.
“Today’s result sends a clear message to anyone involved in criminal activity in Gwent that you will be caught and you will face the consequences.
“I would like to take this opportunity to ask that anyone who has information about illegal drug activity in their area, or concerns about firearm use, to call us on 101.”
