A PCSO based at Coleg Gwent’s City of Newport Campus in Nash has received an award for his dedication to students.
PCSO Deke Williams, a member of Newport East Neighbourhood Policing Team, works in and around the college campus to ensure that all students feel safe and secure.
Coleg Gwent recognised his efforts with a Community Safety Partnership Award at the City of Newport campus annual presentation ceremony in June.
The audience at the ceremony heard that PCSO Williams had been described by learners at the college as ‘awesome, friendly and helpful’.
In addition to his duties as a PCSO, he has accompanied and helped students at the campus School Of Care with their Duke Of Edinburgh Awards.
Ferne Stokes, Campus Deputy Director, who presented PCSO Williams with his award, said: “The Campus has benefited from his presence and he has worked effectively with our Security Officer to ensure students feel safe and secure during their studies with us.”
Inspector Ian Muirhead, of Newport East Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This award shows that Deke is held in high regard by the students, as he has worked to provide them with a safe and secure environment in which to learn.
“It is always a pleasure to hear when an officer is recognised with an award such as this by the people they serve.”
