With the festive season fast approaching, residents can buy special Christmas stamps for their cards and help young people at the same time.
Newport scout and guide Christmas post is now in its 21st year and the stamps go on sale from today, November 4.
Over the coming weeks, volunteers will collect, sort and deliver the cards throughout the city, from Llanvaches to Marshfield and even as far as Ponthir and Risca.
Three hundred thousand stamps are printed and only two and a half pence from each one goes to cover administration costs with the rest of the proceeds go to the individual scout and guide groups that deliver the cards in their areas.
All properly addressed cards will be delivered by Christmas and a postcode is appreciated. The last date for posting is Tuesday, December 7.
The 16p stamps and post boxes will be available at a wide range of outlets in the city – including the Civic Centre’s main reception. Look out for the posters indicating where stamps can be purchased and cards posted.
Monmouthshire Building Society and The Rotary Clubs in Newport kindly sponsor the post and all the stamps, which feature Newport scenes, are sponsored by local businesses.
