The Campaign Manager of Welsh Labour Leadership candidate, Carwyn Jones, has warned supporters there “are no favourites in this election and there must be no complacency” in the final weeks of the contest.
Rhondda AM, Leighton Andrews, made his remarks as ballot papers began to arrive with Party members across the country, enabling them to cast their vote in the election to replace Rhodri Morgan as the Leader of Welsh Labour.
Commenting on the progress made by Carwyn’s campaign so far, Leighton Andrews said:
“This has been an important week for Carwyn. His manifesto has been well very received by members all over Wales. The feedback has been positive and it’s clear that Carwyn’s message and his vision for the future is resonating across all sections of the Party and the wider Labour movement in Wales.
“Canvassing for the support of members is going very well and the response across the length and breadth of Wales is encouraging. However, there is a long way to go in this election and there are no favourites in this race. There will be no complacency over the final three weeks of this election. Carwyn is working flat out to win as much support from our party members as possible.”
The ballot closes at 5.00pm on Thursday 26th November and the result of the election will be declared on Tuesday, 1st December.
