Normal service has been resumed

“Never apologize; never explain” so the old saying goes*. Some of our regular readers will have noticed that we have had a few problems with this site over the past few days.

This has been down to issues with our hosting company and are hopefully resolved now. Welsh Icons has yet again become a victim of its own success. On certain days in January we we getting more than half a million hits a day. OK, I’ll admit that most visitors were just checking on school closures during the snow, but we still average over 5 million hits a month.

My accountant has told me not to be so open about the state of our finances as it could scare off potential advertisers. Many of you will know that the project is run on a shoe-string BUT on the 9th of January we celebrated out 4th Birthday. If you’d like to advertise or just contribute to the project just get in touch. We don’t have a sales team as we are all too busy trying to add content.

We are still here and still providing politically agnostic information and news from Wales with no agenda.

With apologies,

Dom

*The generally reliable though not infallible Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations gives the source as the screenplay for the 1949 film She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, written by Frank S. Nugent and Laurence Stallings. The line is spoken by John Wayne and the exact quote reads, “Never apologize and never explain-it’s a sign of weakness.”
