North Wales Police are encouraging revellers to have an enjoyable but safe New Year’s Eve.
Extra patrols will be on duty across the Force area to reassure residents as the festivities start.
People are being urged to behave responsibly and police are warning that anti social and criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
The message comes as part of a number of police-backed Christmas safety campaigns which have included the use of volunteer Street Angels and Street Pastors in several towns across North Wales, on hand to help people who get into difficulties as well as the promotion of the 101 non emergency number for Wales.
The 101 number should be used for non emergency calls; where matters are really urgent the 999 system should be used but please do not clog the 999 system with trivial issues, particularly on what is likely to be one of the busiest nights of the Year for the emergency services.
Meanwhile the seasonal crackdown on drink driving continues over the New Year. In the run up to Christmas more than 6,000 breath tests were carried out and more than 50 arrests made.
North Wales Deputy Chief Constable, Ian Shannon said: “We hope everyone out celebrating the New Year will have fun, but will also behave sensibly and not spoil the festivities for themselves and others through drunken and anti social behaviour. If they do we‘ll be on hand to deal with them.
“I would also, again, urge motorists not to be tempted to drink and drive. Officers will continue to carry out a large number of breath tests across North Wales as part of our campaign to reduce deaths on the roads.”
