Buses and minibuses were routinely checked as part of a national operation last month to ensure safety and compliance.
Officers from the North Wales Police Commercial Vehicle Unit, together with staff from VOSA took part in ‘Operation Tourist’ – a national operation aimed at ensuring that all forms of transport carrying people on a commercial basis were operating safely and had the correct documentation.
Throughout the month-long campaign a total of 31 vehicles were stopped and checked.
Amongst some of the offences discovered were defective tyres, lighting, driver’s hours and operator’s licence.
One driver was given a prohibition for tachograph offences.
Sergeant Tony Gatley from North Wales Police’ Roads Policing Unit said: “We carried out these checks to ensure the proper maintenance of vehicles and the safety of passengers and other road users.
“Vehicle stop checks play a vital role in keeping all road users safe so although this particular campaign has finished we will continue to carry out similar checks as part of our roads policing duties.”
Anybody who may have concerns about vehicles using the roads of North Wales can contact the Commercial Vehicle Unit via 101 or by text to 66767.
