There are a number of children in Neath Port Talbot with varied disabilities, many of whom do not participate in any physical activity.
From the 9th-13th August, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council at Margam Country Park sponsored by Admiral Insurance and Corus (a member of Tata Steel) will host the Festival of Sport for children with disabilities, providing 30 hours of great sporting adventures for children with learning difficulties.
Suitable for ages 5-22 years old this annual event has a series of exciting activities including rock climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.
Council Leader Ali Thomas said “NPT’s successful annual sports festival for children with disabilities aims to raise self esteem and confidence of the youngsters by developing new sporting skills by enabling them to take part in physically challenging sports normally not accessible.
“With help and support from families and carers our dedicated team ensure that the week is adventurous, safe and full of fun.”
The activities will run daily from 9.00am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday at Margam Country Park.
