Motorists are being warned tonight that freezing temperatures will make roads in Neath Port Talbot icy and treacherous.
Around the clock gritting is continuing on roads across the County Borough for the second successive night.
These are:
- Route – Neath (i.e. Tonna, Cimla, Neath Town Centre, Neath Abbey, Skewen and Bryncoch)
- Route – Afan Valley (i.e. Cymmer, Croeserw, Glyncorrwg, Abercregan, Gwynfi, Pontrhydyfen, Tonmawr, A4107 and Bryn)
- Route – Port Talbot (i.e. Margam, Taibach, A48 Pyle to Baglan, Briton Ferry, Cwmavon, Afan Way and Goytre)
- Route – Banwen (i.e. B4242, Glyn Neath, Pontneathvaughan, Dyffryn Cellwen, Crynant, Rhos, Alltwen, Cadoxton, A474)
- Route – Lliw (i.e. Pontardawe, Cwmtwrch, Cwmllynfell, GCG, Brynamman, Rhydyfro, Ynysmeudwy, Godre’r graig, Pontardawe and Trebanos )
Gritters are being deployed county-wide in preparation for icy conditions but our weather forecasters are saying that further snow or sleet showers will be isolated. Temperatures are expected to dip again later tonight.
The A4107 Bwlch Road from Abergwynfi remains open and passable with care.
The A4107 main Afan Valley road is passable.
The Council’s operations are being co-ordinated from the new response centre from the Quays on Baglan Energy Park and the workforce is being re-deployed to priority streetcare services.
The access road to Port Talbot multi-storey car park, Margam Crematorium and Neath Port Talbot Hospital have also been gritted.
Residents are being advised to keep putting out their refuse on the usual days and it will be collected as soon as safety permits.
Motorists are being advised to drive with care and only make those journeys that are necessary.
