Neath Port Talbot County Council staff are continuing to work around the clock to ensure that the main roads are kept clear of snow and ice.
The Authority has been busy over the weekend with salting, snow clearance and transporting key personnel throughout the County Borough to ensure that Homecare services and Registrars are able to complete their work.
Michael Roberts, Head of Streetcare, said:
“We’ve used around 40% of our salt so far. We are asking the public to remain patient in these difficult times. We are experiencing hundreds of service requests and these are being assessed according to priority and will be acted on over the next few days. The weather forecast is for some snow tomorrow and for temperatures to remain low into Christmas. Residents should only travel if deemed essential.”
Neath Port Talbot Council has been very grateful for the help of the RAYNET group of volunteers. RAYNET has been using their own 4×4 vehicles to transport Social Services carers from their homes to work, in order to look after vulnerable members of our community.
