A modern apprentice working in Neath Port Talbot Council’s print and graphic unit scooped the top prize in the “People in Print Trainee of The Year Award.” NPT trainee Rhian Johns received her award at a prestigious ceremony held in London recently.
Rhian said “Last year has been very productive for me in terms of development and personal achievement. I am enjoying all the benefits that my degree course is bringing to my work at Neath Port Talbot Council.”
Rhian has been gaining hands on experience at the Council’s print and graphics unit for the last three years, whilst studying for her degree course. Earlier this year she also won another “Trainee of the Year” at APCOM and will be attending a print convention in April 2011 as a guest of the sponsors Danwood. She is also a finalist in the Pro Skills Awards to be held in November 2010.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Ali Thomas, said, “Rhian has done extremely well in winning these coveted awards. She is a dedicated learner and an inspiration to other members of staff. Her training as a modern apprentice is an excellent example of what can be achieved here at NPT by combining study with work.”
