Officers rescue woman from fire

Police officers have been praised for rescuing a woman from a burning building.

Sergeant Paul Hughes and Constable Yvie Johnson based at Rhosllanerchrogog, Wrexham, were taken to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after they entered the house in Acrefair, at just after 1.45am this morning, August 25.

They were later discharged and remained on duty for the rest of the morning.

The action by the officers has been praised by Superintendent Neill Anderson who said that they had been very brave and put their own safety at risk to save the occupant of the house.

Superintendent Anderson said that no third parties were believed to be responsible for the cause of the fire and North Wales Police were now working with other agencies to ensure all fire safety measures were taken.
