Civic dignitaries and transport officials will be on hand to officially open the new and improved Rhyl Bus Station on 8 September after a £3million revamp.
The £3.7m scheme has seen extensive improvements to this integrated hub including a new bus station and taxi rank layout plus improved access to and from the rail and bus station.
The number of stands has increased from five to six and can now accommodate the longer buses now appearing on many bus routes in the area.
Passengers have benefited from more shelter space and the design is such that the shelters will deter anti-social behaviour. The design is also safer for pedestrians and improves facilities and access for disabled people and the community as a whole.
The refurbishment, which is to a high specification, follows an extensive consultation process with bus users and interested parties and funding for the improvements comes from the Welsh Assembly Government, Taith and Denbighshire County Council.
Councillor Sharon Frobisher, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “Our new and improved bus station is a fitting welcome to the town of Rhyl for both bus and rail passengers.
“Before the refurbishment, Rhyl Bus Station was run down and sometimes the subject of anti-social behaviour. This new bus station reflects the increasing numbers using the bus service as well as meeting the needs and expectations of elderly and disabled people.”
