MP for Clwyd West, David Jones, has welcomed news that the Olympic touch will travel through the constituency of Clwyd West for part of its 70 day journey across the United Kingdom.
On Monday 28th May 2012, it is expected that the Torch will pass through Kinmel Bay, Towyn, Abergele, Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea. The Torchbearers, who will be appointed in December this year, have been nominated for their particular contributions to the local community.
David Jones said:
“This is a once in a generation opportunity for local communities within Clwyd West to take part in an historic event, celebrating the countdown to the 2012 Olympics.
“I would encourage all neighbouring communities to join in with the celebrations and to take part in this spectacle. The Torch relay also gives local people the opportunity to say thank you, in a very special way, to those who have been nominated to carry the Torch.”
