A new Community Beat Manager is determined to help improve the reputation of an area in Bangor.
People living in the Hirael area claim that crime is rife in their district and new CBM Joanna Clarke has vowed to work with residents to deal with any problems.
PC Clarke, who has worked in the Bangor area for the past two years said that she is well aware of what is being said and is looking forward to working with the community.
She said: “I aim to be highly visible in the area and want to make sure that the public feel that I am there for them and they can talk to me about any problems.
“I am planning to get very involved with residents and one of things I want to do is to revamp the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. I feel this would help bring the community together.
“I also want to ask the public what they would like to see and will be putting a police letterbox in the local swimming baths in the New Year so that residents can let me know if they have any problems or indeed just want to make suggestions.
“I have also arranged, with the manager of Bangor Swimming Baths, for a police surgery to be held there on the first Wednesday of every month between 2-4pm starting on Wednesday January 5.
“I really hope that residents will come and talk to me and I will also have a representative from Cymunedol Gwynedd at every meeting,” she said.
Inspector Manon Owen, said that she hoped that residents would keep in close touch with PC Clarke and work with her to improve the reputation of the Hirael area.
