On the road with Gwynedd Ni

Yong people living in Gwynedd have had the opportunity to find out what services are available to them without needing to move an inch.

Lori Ni – Gwynedd’s mobile information service for children and young people – visited all secondary schools in the county during February.

Lori Ni offers young people a number of ways in which to receive information – from traditional methods such as leaflets and pamphlets, to the latest technology as the lorry now has wi-fi allowing visitors to view information online.

Lori Ni is a joint venture run by Gwynedd Council’s Libraries Service and Gwynedd Ni – the Gwynedd information service for children, young people and families.

Gwynedd Ni now has a page on the popular social networking site Facebook, which is yet another way of sharing information with youngsters, and allows children to ask questions and contact each other.

Iwan Trefor Jones, chairman of Gwynedd Ni, said: “This tour of Gwynedd secondary schools was a great success and I am very glad that Lori Ni was given such a warm welcome.

“This tour has given young people the opportunity to find out about all sorts of issues which are important to them, such as advice on education, career choices and volunteering; information about health matters; help if they are concerned about the affects of drugs or alcohol and guidance on how to stay safe while surfing the internet.”
