Swansea Council is moving forward with works to reopen a road which has been closed to traffic since 2009.
A landslide adjacent to Trewyddfa Road near Morriston meant the Council had to close the road following safety concerns.
A scheme was approved in July 2010 to reopen the road and work has commenced on site but a secondary slip has since been discovered. This is why the Council is now amending the existing scheme.
Cllr John Hague, Cabinet Member for the Environment in Swansea Council, said: “Our priority is to get Trewyddfa Road reopened. The ongoing work at the site to make the embankment safe has led to the discovery of a further slip.
“We need to deal with this in order to reopen the road safely. This has required further funding to complete the extra work.”
The Council previously approved £250,000 towards the scheme. A further £146,000 has now been approved for the extra work.
