Work has now started on the Eisteddfod Maes on Lower Berse Farm, off Ruthin Road, Wrexham, and as part of the preparations for the festival, the Eisteddfod has created a new section on its 2011 website – www.eisteddfod.org.uk – to advertise any work opportunities available during the week of the Wrexham and District National Eisteddfod, held from 30 July – 6 August this year.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Hywel Wyn Edwards, says, “People contact us every year looking for work on the Maes or with our traders for the Eisteddfod period. We hope that the new section of the website will be a valuable service for those looking for work – and for those looking for staff.
“We’ve contacted all our stallholders asking them to send us details of any opportunities as soon as they can, and we’ll be posting details on our website. Then, any interested individuals can get in touch with the stallholders directly.
“This will enable us to ensure that we have a list of opportunities available so people can apply for the work. We’ll be updating the list regularly, so if you have any opportunities during the week, please let us know and we’ll make sure that they appear on our website – www.eisteddfod.org.uk.
“This resource was a great success last year and we are pleased to reintroduce it this year, hoping that our stallholders and those looking for work at the Eisteddfod will benefit from this free service.”
The National Eisteddfod attracts 150,000-160,000 visitors every year, travelling around Wales and visiting north and south Wales alternately. The Welsh Government has contributed £25,000 towards a two tickets for the price of one scheme for Wrexham Borough residents during the first weekend of the festival, 30-31 July, and details are available online.
