There will be an opportunity to see all kinds of old treasures in special guided tours around Caernarfon and Meirionnydd’s Public Record Offices on Saturday 28 September.
One of the attractions in the open doors day at the Caernarfon Public Record Office, between 10am and 4pm, will be an exhibition of historic seals.
Among them will be a seal dating back to 1177, the seal of Elizabeth I and also the seal of Henrietta Maria, the Queen of England who was the wife of King Charles I. There will be a similar opportunity to see old original document in guided tours around the Meirionnydd Public Record Office, Dolgellau, between 10am and 3pm the same day.
There will also be a seals workshop there (through the medium of English): ‘Understanding and Using Seals for Local Research’ between 1.30 and 3.30. It will be necessary to book a place for the workshop by contacting Merfyn Tomos on (01341) 424 682.
