‘Open Doors’ is proving to be as popular as ever with many walks and tours booking up fast.
This coming weekend (10 and 11 September), the focus for this free annual heritage event is Denbigh, with events taking place all over town. Walks and tours still available to book include:
A walk to Galch Hill and Gwaenynog Hall, Denbigh and the Civil War Walk, a visit to Denbigh’s Dove Cotes, and The Archaeology of Denbigh tour with archaeologist Fiona Gale, taking in the Town Walls and Leicester’s Church.
You can also book a visit to Mostyn House and Grove Place – two impressive town houses on Vale Street, that are currently undergoing extensive renovations. Or Lleweni Coachhouse and Converted Barns. At the Welsh Language Centre you can view an exhibibition dipicting the history of Wireless in Wales and a collection of radios from 1920s to 50s.
At the Market Hall, Denbigh Town Hall there will be an exhibition of extensive photography, archive films and historical information about North Wales Hospital. In Denbigh Library you can see some of Denbigh’s Doors produced in linoprint, in the unique exhibition by Sandra Webb.
There will be free parking in all of Denbigh’s carparks throughout the weekend of 10 and 11 September 2011.
Every weekend in September is dedicated to an Open Doors event including Llangollen (17 and 18 September) and Ruthin (24 and 25 September). For more details visit the website www.opendoorsdenbighshire.org.uk

European Heritage Days are an initiative of the Council of Europe. ‘Open Doors’ is co-ordinated by the Civic Trust for Wales whose partners organise parallel events in England and Scotland. The initiative was launched in 1991 and last year over 20 million people visited all the participating sites throughout Europe.
