Operation Crevitz in Pwllheli and Porthmadog District

An operation aimed at tackling alcohol-related anti-social behaviour in the Pwllheli and Porthmadog district is going from strength to strength.

Operation Crevitz, which has been ongoing since mid-February, has seen a large variety of alcohol being seized from youngsters, as well as letters being sent out to the parents of those concerned, informing them of their children’s behaviour.

Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Steve Edge said: “The operation is continuing and we hope this approach, by engaging with parents, will reduce incidents of alcohol related anti social behaviour.

“There is an escalation process, should young people be found in possession of alcohol on a second or third occasion, however, we are hoping that early notification to parents will negate the need for this.

He added: “Groups of youths engaging in this type of activity can cause concern for residents. We want to reduce this and provide reassurance that this type of behaviour is not acceptable.”

PCSOs Steve Phelps and Paul Duggan mirror this view and are keen to ensure that the public remain reassured. They said: “We will continue to be as proactive as possible, along with our colleagues, to deal with these incidents, but we ask that parents play their part in supporting our aims.”

Anyone with information regarding the supply of alcohol to under-aged youngsters is asked to contact a member of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101, or 0845 607 1001 (Welsh line) or 0845 607 1002 (English line).
