Operation Grey Diamond, a partnership initiative between the City of Cardiff Council and South Wales Police clamped down on off-road riders in the city last weekend.
The operation resulted in the seizure of eight motorbikes and quad bikes, five anti-social behaviour referrals and the issuing of five Section 59 warnings. One of the riders was a disqualified driver who will now be summonsed to attend court.
Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Bob Derbyshire, said: “Operation Grey Diamond was a great success and will hopefully go some way to reducing this type of anti-social behaviour. We will continue to target hotspots across the city to ensure that people can enjoy the wonderful public spaces we have here in Cardiff without having to put up with the annoyance and potential danger that these bikes can cause when ridden irresponsibly.”
Although motorcycle annoyance peaks at this time of year, partnership operations of this nature run throughout the year, targeting areas where the most complaints have been received.
