Outdoor Action Show creates a splash at ISV

The energetic Outdoor Action Show goes ahead this weekend with a new location at the International Sports Village.

With rowing, fishing, football, cricket and climbing on offer as well as sailing and windsurfing in the International Pool and rafting and canoeing at Cardiff International White Water, this event will be sure to create a splash for all ages!

There are lots of opportunities to take part in activities the whole family can enjoy. The outdoor rowing challenge will be on site for those looking to test their fitness, or why not bring your swimming costume and try your hand at sailing or windsurfing in Cardiff International Pool. The leisure pool with lazy river and flumes will be open for families to come down and make a splash at this fantastic event!

Unique to this weekend, qualified instructors from Cardiff Bay Water Activity Centre will host sailing activities suitable for all the family, as the 50m pool is turned into a real life sailing arena with a dozen wind fans. Those as young as eight can try their hand at sailing oppies and windsurfers in the safety of the pool. To pre book sailing sessions, contact 02920 353912.

On Saturday and Sunday the Welsh Yachting Association will be on site and along with the Cardiff Water Activity Centre staff will be hosting the Welsh Indoor Optimist Sailing Championships.

The Federation of Welsh Anglers, the governing body for fishing, will also be nearby offering the opportunity for families or individuals to have a go at fishing off pontoons out onto the River Ely.

Visit the numerous exhibition stands including outdoor clothing from Lobster Bob and Blacks/Millets, and Sustainable Travel promoting the city centre Oy Bikes.

Get involved in some sporting action with the Sport Cardiff team. In partnership with Cardiff Devils, Glamorgan Cricket Club, Cardiff City Football Club and Golf Development Wales there will be lots of fun activities for the kids to try! Whether it’s flexing the footie skills, wrestling through a game of rugby on the inflatable pitch or getting a hockey puck in the net, come along and have a go!

With the new location for the event at the International Sports Village, Cardiff Harbour Authority has teamed up with City Sightseeing to provide a FREE shuttle bus from outside the Wales Millennium Centre from 12 – 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

There will also be a water taxi shuttle service from the Pierhead with Water Taxi: the Yellow Boat. Their timetable starts at 10.30am from Pierhead then every 45mins and will only cost £2 single or £4 return (half price for children); so why not join in and experience a range of exciting activities and watch demonstrations from climbing to white water rafting?

No visit to the International Sports Village is complete without taking in the newest world-class facility in Wales, Cardiff International White Water. Watch THE most popular and sociable of all water sports, white water rafting. Descend the raging rapids on this adrenalin fuelled activity at the reduced price of £42 per person on Sunday. The event takes place from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday with free entry to the site although individual charges apply for some activities.

“The opening of Cardiff International White Water (CIWW) this year has given us the opportunity to move the already popular Outdoor Action Show across the bay to the International Sports Village site. This is a fantastic event, a real showcase for all the water activities on offer in the bay. With sailing, rowing, canoeing, and now the addition of white water action, this is an event everyone can enjoy!”
