Commenting on reports that Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital is to stop treating North Wales patients due to a lack of funding, Darren Millar, AM for Clwyd West, said:
“It is an outrage that people in North Wales are effectively being prevented from having the lifesaving heart surgery, which they have been waiting so long for.
“It is unbelievable how Labour-Plaid Ministers in Cardiff could have got their sums so badly wrong.
“The Health Minister now needs to take urgent steps to resolve this funding crisis and to reassure patients and their families that their treatment will not be compromised.”
Nick Ramsay AM, Shadow Minister for Health and Social Services, added, “This is further evidence that Labour-Plaid’s cuts to the NHS of £435million this year were a mistake.
“Welsh Conservatives will continue to lobby Ministers urging them to stop their further planned cuts of £1billion to vital NHS services.”
