Over the hills….. but not so far away

A special service will be held on Wednesday 09 February 2011 in St John’s Church, Pontfadog when the Bishop of St Asaph will license the Revd Edward Yendall as parish priest to the communities of Llansantffraid Glyn Ceiriog, Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, and Pontfadog.

Reverend Yendall will be making the move to the Glyn Ceiriog valley from the neighbouring valley of the Tanat, having just relinquished the position of Vicar to the Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant Group of Parishes. Geographically these are neighbouring parishes, but being divided by the Berwyn Hills means they are very separate in terms of community life and social outlook.

Mr Yendall will be bringing to his new position a wealth of experience as a parish priest in Mid and North Wales, along with service on Anglesey in Bangor Diocese where he held the responsibility of Area Dean of Malltraeth.

Upon his arrival in the Ceirog Valley parishioners will no doubt not only experience his conscientious pastoral care, but also be entranced by his prolific musical skills on the pipe organ.

Mr Yendall will also be bringing with him experience in advocacy work in helping people in times of crisis, through his many years as a volunteer with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

Commenting on his new appointment Edward Yendall states, ‘I am looking forward to my new ministry as I make the short  journey over the hills to settle in this beautiful part of Wales. I am looking forward to working with the people of the three communities and churches in the Ceiriog valley’.

The Licensing Service for Reverend Yendall will take place in St John’s Church, Pontfadog on 09 February commencing at 1900 hrs.
