Join Cardiff Council’s Bereavement Service this Easter to remember and celebrate the lives of those dear to us.
An ecumenical Palm Sunday Memorial Service, conducted by Rev. Michael Witcombe, will be held at the Wenallt Chapel at Thornhill Crematorium between 2pm and 3pm on Sunday 1st April 2012.
Deborah Morgan Lewis will be leading the singing and refreshments will be available at the end of the service.
During the service, a collection will be made in aid of The Teenage Cancer Trust whose work is funded entirely by voluntary donations. Visitors are also invited to place a memorial card with a personal message in memory of loved ones in a designated flower garden area outside the crematorium. The cards are available from the main office at Thornhill for a suggested donation of £2 with all money raised going to the charity.
The Teenage Cancer Trust, based at the University Hospital of Wales, aims to ensure that every young person diagnosed with cancer has access to the best possible care and professional support throughout their cancer journey. Indeed, the ‘Skypad’ at the hospital is the only specialist cancer facility of its kind in Wales.
Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Nigel Howells, said: “Everyone is welcome to attend. Palm Sunday is a fitting time to express love and solidarity and the service brings comfort to a lot of people in their time of need.”
