Pantside Primary school held a high fashion finale to celebrate the end of a week of activities during the schools Health week.
Throughout the week, the school held various activates such as planning and making a healthy picnic, life saving skills, a growing up workshop and activity sessions with Dragon Sport. The Eco fashion show was the grand finale of the event.
The eco committee, made up of 12 pupils and 4 teachers organised the catwalk show on Friday 28th March where pupils showcased their clothing made out of recyclable materials. This included cardboard, plastic bags and empty containers.
Pupils from the school designed and created over 50 items of clothing and accessories which included rocket packs, wedding outfits, disco outfits and various hats.
Carolyn Edmunds, Year 5 teacher and eco committee member said, “We’ve had lots of activities and projects throughout the week about energy savings, waste minimisation and global citizenship. This fashion show is a fun activity to end the week. The children have been practising their walks up and down the catwalk.”
Carolyn continued, “Most of the pupils are showcasing their own work with one or two who are quite shy who have nominated a friend to wear their creations down the runway in their place.”
The garments have been made using recyclable material and unwanted materials around the house.
Pantside Primary school has one green flag, awarded to schools that are eco friendly and has just applied for its second flag.
