Parents and parents-to-be – Flintshire County Council wants your views on childcare

Parents and parents-to-be in Flintshire are being encouraged to express their views about childcare and its provision in the county.

Flintshire County Council is currently completing a piece of work called a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment. The Assessment has to be completed every three years (by every local authority) and as part of this, we are asking parents and parents-to-be to complete a questionnaire, to find out:

  • Where children live across Flintshire
  • What childcare is available within these areas
  • How many of the available places are filled
  • How many of the available places are vacant
  • Where the gaps are
  • What parents think about the childcare provision
  • Whether childcare is meeting parental need
  • What the barriers are to using childcare
  • How childcare in Flintshire could be improved

This information is then used to build up a picture of parents’ needs and views across Flintshire. It will be used to compile a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment and a subsequent action plan for Flintshire to assist in addressing the gaps.

The questionnaire will be available either in hard copy or you can find the English version at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BFQHNXS, and the Welsh version at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RNLNGJ7, and it is also available in different languages. If you require the questionnaire in a different format or would like to talk through your answers, please telephone Sam Greatbanks on 01244 823234 or email [email protected].
