A digital campaign to promote some 30 local parks, open air museums and gardens across South Wales was launched at Cyfarthfa Park in Merthyr Tydfil last week (Friday 2 March 2012). This is a joint initiative between Capital Region Tourism (CRT) and Southern Wales Attractions Partnership (SWAP).
At the touch of a button now, members of the public will now be able to access information about all the participating parks and gardens, located from Newport to Swansea – including Tredegar House, Cyfarthfa Castle, Caldicot Country Park and Gower Heritage Centre – on one, easy to use website.
Full information about all the parks and gardens in this partnership can be found at www.southwalesgardens.org or at South Wales Parks and Gardens page on Facebook. You can also be kept up to date at the touch of a button by following @SouthWalesParks on Twitter.
Speaking about this initiative, Peter Cole, Regional Strategy Director of CRT said: “In keeping with the Capital Region Tourism’s aim of creating opportunities and partnerships, I am delighted that we have been able to help provide funding for this campaign and are working with SWAP to promote our heritage, parks and gardens.
“This campaign is a cost effective and ideal way to keep people of all ages informed and up to date about the treasures in their back garden of South Wales. In this digital age, people are also able to get involved too via Facebook and Twitter which means we can all work together.”
Ruth Taylor-Davies, Chair of SWAP added: “We are fortunate to live in a region rich in beautiful green space. At SWAP, we are passionate that our many beautiful parks and gardens are used and enjoyed by as many people of all ages as much as possible, especially as some are free to use.
“Using a dedicated website, Facebook and twitter people across South Wales and beyond, will have all the information they need at their fingertips. This will really help people and families to make the most of their free time together and enjoy the many historical and cultural gardens and parks on their doorstep.”
