Welcoming the news that Deloitte are to create 100 extra jobs in Cardiff Eluned Parrott AM said:
“This is obviously good news for Cardiff and is a sign that the city is growing and prospering.
“This good news needs to be viewed in the whole context of the wider Cardiff Enterprise Zone.
“The Zone in the centre of Cardiff was announced more than two years ago to ‘Establish an internationally competitive destination for financial and professional services.’ This announcement from Deloitte is the first sign of anything like this happening and the Welsh Government need to act fast to ensure it isn’t the last.
“We’ve yet to see any concrete plans on how the Welsh Government is going to attract new businesses to the Enterprise Zone. We have seen land bought with no plan of how to develop it, arguments between the Welsh Government and Cardiff Council, and a new debacle emerging about the development of a transport hub around Central Station. What is sadly lacking is a clear strategic vision, and in its absence, the whole project seems rather hit and miss.”
