Assembly Member Paul Davies joined protestors on the 26th January to march through Haverfordwest, as part of a public protest against plans to centralise specialist care for babies born in west Wales.
Mr Davies said:
“The people of Pembrokeshire have made it absolutely clear that they will not tolerate the decision to closure the Special Care Baby Unit at Withybush hospital.”
“I very much believe that this decision is dangerous and in immediately life-threatening cases, could pose severe harm to mothers and babies in Pembrokeshire.”
“There has also been no consideration about the sustainability of other services at Withybush hospital – and the knock on effect that removing the Special Care Baby unit will have on other departments such as paediatrics and A and E.”
“Therefore, it’s important that communities from across Pembrokeshire come together to send a clear a message that we will not stand by and watch services from Withybush hospital be lost to us, and I urge the Health Minister to do the right thing and start listening to the people of Pembrokeshire.”
