BBC Cymru Wales’ Welsh language topical current affairs programme, Pawb a’i Farn, was recently hosted in Holywell Leisure Centre.
Similar to the BBC’s Question Time, Pawb a`i Farn consists of four panellists and a local audience and the live debate is chaired by Dewi Llwyd.
The audience of 100 Welsh speakers were invited from Holywell and the surrounding villages and represented a wide age range from high school pupils to senior citizens.
A number of topics were discussed and the panel consisted of Councillor Aled Roberts, Leader of Wrexham County Council, Guto Bebb, Conservative candidate and business advisor, Rhys Mwyn, Columnist and poet/writer and the Reverend Nan Powell-Davies.
The programme was broadcast live from Holywell Leisure Centre at 8.30pm on Thursday, 3 December.
Gareth Owen, Duty Officer at Holywell Leisure Centre, said: “The evening went well and BBC Wales were very pleased with the venue.”
Pawb a`i Farn Series Editor Geraint Lewis Jones said: “The series has been running for sixteen years and while we have visited Flintshire locations before, such as Buckley and Mold, this is the first time we have visited my home town of Holywell. I was very pleased with the enthusiasm of the audience and their willingness to participate in lively debate on issues such as the Welsh Labour Leadership, the future of Welsh medium education in the county and how do towns such as Holywell respond to the challenge of internet shopping and supermarkets .I think the audience enjoyed the programme and the staff at the centre couldn`t do enough for us.”
