An Anglesey Police Community Support Officer has raised over £700 for charity after completing her first ever half marathon.
PCSO Alison Williams, who is based at Gaerwen Police Station, joined thousands of other runners at the Liverpool Half Marathon last Sunday (28th March).
The money she raised is to be shared between two charities that are important to her – the British Heart Foundation and SANDS (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity).
“I’m delighted that I completed the course and raised an excellent total for such worthy causes,” said PCSO Williams, who completed the 13-mile race in two hours and 20 minutes.
“Both charities are so important to me as its two years since I lost my father to a hear attack and 12 years since I lost my son.”
PCSO Williams was also joined by her colleague and friend, PCSO Jan Hughes, who is based at Menai Bridge Police Station.
PCSO Williams added: “Without Jan’s support I would never have been able to complete the race and I want to thank her for everything she’s done. Not only did she support me with my training – which began in October, she also stayed with me throughout the race, and I am extremely grateful to her for everything.
“I would also like to thank everyone who has donated because that really gave me the added motivation I needed to complete the challenge.”
PCSO Jan Hughes is very proud on what her friend has accomplished. She said: “Alison did really well, considering this was her first attempt at running and she should be really proud on what she has achieved.”
