South Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns and Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies welcome new Conservative AM Mohammad Ashgar to the party.
Mr Ashgar, who is known as Oscar and is regional AM for South Wales East, was the first Muslim to be elected a member of the National Assembly and is now also the first sitting AM to cross the floor.
One of the reasons Mr Ashgar left Plaid Cymru is because he disagreed with the party’s ambition to see an independent Wales.
“We are delighted to welcome Oscar to our side of the chamber and look forward to working with him,” said Mr Davies.
Mrs Burns added: “Oscar’s decision shows that Plaid is out of touch with voters who want to see a strong Wales within a United Kingdom, not separate from it. We are delighted that he is joining the only party that can beat Labour in Wales.”
