Leanne Wood has drawn support for her Plaid leadership campaign from Deudraeth Branch Committee in Dwyfor Meirionydd as well as Penarth branch in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The endorsement follows discussion of the leadership campaign at a recent meeting of the Deudraeth branch where it was agreed “based on the information disseminated by the three candidates via the web, the press, in publications and in person, that Leanne Wood is the strongest candidate and the one that we have decided to support.”
Elfed Roberts from Penrhyndeudraeth, who worked as party organiser in Arfon and Meirionydd for twenty-five years, added:
“It’s good to hear that support for Leanne is on the up. She knows her own mind, is intelligent and acts true to principle and conviction. She’s young and full of energy and determination. Those are the essential qualifications, and she possesses them. If she wins, I believe she will bring a breath of fresh air to Plaid’s politics.”
Further support for Leanne Wood’s campaign has also come from Penarth Branch, in the Vale of Glamorgan who decided to support her candidacy at a recent branch meeting.
Leanne Wood campaign spokesperson Gwenllian Lansdown-Davies said:
“Support from both Penrhyndeudraeth and Penarth, on top of the 14 constituencies and branches who originally nominated Leanne, shows that Leanne has the ability to appeal Wales-wide. She can unite the party as we move forward on our journey to real independence. It shows that the host of positive and practical policy papers she has published during the campaign can unite people behind her new vision for our nation.”
