The City of Cardiff Council’s Cabinet will discuss the future of Pentrebane Community Centre at its meeting next week.
Following a review and restructure of the Adult Community Learning service last year, which included a review of buildings, the community centre will no longer be needed for adult learning and the Council has been considering options for the building’s future.
A broad range of community-based activities are held in the building and the Council is aware of a strong interest from the people in the local area to retain the property for community uses.
Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Cllr Julia Magill, said: “We have carefully considered the options for the future of Pentrebane Community Centre and understand the importance and value of this facility in the local neighbourhood. As the next step, the Cabinet will consider on Thursday the recommendation to proceed with the tender process for the community asset transfer of the community centre.”
If the recommendations are agreed, expressions of interest will be invited from interested parties which will be shortlisted for consideration with the preferred operator to take a community asset transfer of the building.
