Pentwynmawr Primary pupils welcomed their newest additions in perfect pixie style with pumpkin carriages, fairytale houses, toadstools and magical recipes.
The Pentwynmawr Pixies classroom has been specifically designed for some of Caerphilly county borough’s youngest residents at just 2 years old. The brand new facility adjacent to the school was officially opened with a themed assembly where Cllr Bevan, Cabinet Member for Education and Leisure, had the pleasure of hearing all about the new classroom from year 6 pupils who explained through music and poetry.
The unique class offers a special wrap around care service for those parents who are working, allowing parental flexibility and peace of mind. The service also provides a chance for the children to develop, learn and gain confidence in preparation for Nursery, all through the world of play andcreative activities. The service runs 5 days a week and is restricted to 12 pixies at one time, ensuring the best level of care, from the highly qualified staff.
In a recent inspection the governing body ESTYN reported, “The relocation of the playgroup to the school cements the school’s place at the centre of the local community and helps to build links with parents prior to their children starting school.”
Cllr. Bevan said, “This was unlike any other launch I have been to, the pupils performed wonderfully and extended a warm welcome to everyone especially the smaller children. The planning and thought process that went into this launch is testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole teaching staff. The Pixies will no doubt flourish in this wonderful school.”
