Commenting on the latest Welsh Housing Quality Standard Statistics released today, Peter Black AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Housing Minister said:
“I am pleased that the number of Welsh Housing Quality Standard compliant houses has increased from 42% to 60%
“It is a shame that only 39% of Local Authority homes have reached the standard whereas 75% of Registered Social Landlords have.
“However the historic deal between the Liberal Democrats’ Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander and the Welsh Government, allowing local councils to buy themselves out of the Housing Revenue Subsidy system, will see tens of millions of pounds retained in Wales to be spent on Council housing.
“More money is now available to local councils to invest in improving their homes. I look forward to the standard of council homes improving.
