Local gardeners are in for a treat this weekend when the annual rare plant sale arrives in Clyne Gardens.
The sale is taking place this Sunday (May 16) from 10am to 5pm and will feature a number of visiting nurseries from all over Wales as well as a wide variety of exotic plants.
There will also be live music from the Swansea Accordion Orchestra and free children’s entertainment from 3pm to 5pm.
The rare plant sale is part of the Clyne in Bloom festivities organised by Swansea Council.
Steve Hopkins, Swansea Council’s Specialist Parks Development Manager, said: “The rare plant sale is a great day out for the whole family and people are sure to find something a bit unusual to add to their garden.
“Clyne is spectacular throughout the year but May is the ideal time to really appreciate the gardens in all their glory and enjoy a whole host of fun activities and events.”
Some of the activities taking place during Clyne in Bloom include guided tours of the gardens, band concerts and bird and wildlife walks.
Guided tours take place every Wednesday and Saturday throughout May from 2pm to 4pm and allow visitors to take in the azalea garden, the wild flower meadow, the bog garden, bluebell wood and the tallest recorded magnolia in Britain.
The wildlife walks at Clyne take place every Wednesday from 10am to noon and give people the chance to experience the park’s plant and animal life.
Children also have the opportunity to let their imaginations run riot during Clyne in Bloom thanks to workshops and storytelling sessions held every Sunday throughout May from 3pm to 5pm. Live music performed by some of Swansea’s finest brass bands will take place between the same times.
